Colouring Adult Eczema is a nationwide public engagement project undertaken in collaboration with co-artist Julia Vogl. It was commissioned by Dr Sinéad Langan at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and supported by Wellcome Trust.
The project involved 4 workshops across the UK engaging adults living with eczema. They took place in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Nottingham during 2019, where participants covered subjects from diet, weather, intimacy, travel, social pressures, depression, loneliness and childhood.
With the backdrop of these conversations, the participants created a panelled artwork using meditative mark-making and typography, which they then illuminated with coloured lights to be photographed. These artworks have been compiled in to this modular sculpture.
Participants also engaged in poetic responses, answering each others prompts and questions which are curated into an instagram account: @colouringadulteczema
